The Ayer Shirley Regional School District has been selected by the Massachusetts School Building Association (MSBA) to enter into a partnership in the pre-feasibility stage of a project to improve the educational environment of the middle high school building located in Ayer. We are excited that the MSBA has selected Ayer Shirley Middle High School to enter into the next phase (feasibility study), and are appreciative for the opportunity to upgrade our building to meet the needs of the town for decades to come utilizing this
state grant program. A range of 63-68% of all costs of the project will be reimbursed by
MSBA.
The purpose of the
feasibility study phase is to conduct an exhaustive examination of the facility and produce a recommended project plan, scope and budget to submit for approval by MSBA so that we can move into the next phase. This includes analyzing everything from top to bottom including: windows, heating/ventilation, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, roof, accessibility, ceiling/flooring tiles, asbestos, fire/safety, classrooms, science labs, technology, gym space and locker rooms, storage, cafeteria/kitchen, auditorium, general space needs, music/band. and restrooms. For every space analyzed there will be a determination made as to its educational benefit to students and its allocation of space to that educational purpose.
